Eastern Carolina Chapter Meeting

Wednesday, Oct 9, 2019

Time: 1:00pm – 4:00pm

Hello InfraGard, Eastern Carolina Chapter member,

Please join us for our bi-monthly Eastern Carolina InfraGard meeting on Wednesday October 9th at Cisco from 1-4pm.

Neal Gay of FireEye Managed Defense will give a presentation on  Industrial Control System Security

Presentation Summary:

Situational awareness is a term coined by military pilots to describe how an aviator assesses operational status and addresses immediate threats to the aircraft and mission.  As IT and OT systems increase in complexity and inter-connectivity, the ability to maintain situational awareness of the immediate cyber threat landscape will be paramount in keeping these systems online, available, and secure.  The current state of maturity and interconnectivity of OT security controls does not match that of the actual OT systems and leaves some large gaps in the ability of leadership to make effective risk-based decisions.  Total situational awareness, accounting for all the various security products and data sources, is critical for both operations and security in today’s OT environments.

Presenters Bio:

Neal is a Senior Manager of FireEye Managed Defense. He leads the US-West region team and the Managed Defense for OT service.  Prior to FireEye, Neal worked numerous nation-state and insider threat investigations for the US Federal government.  Neal has an engineering degree, a Masters in IT, and has 5 years of statistical quality control and process automation experience.
